Individual, Adolescent and Couples Therapy

I provide a solution focused, cognitive behavioral approach to my work, with a strong emphasis on collaborating with you to create an individualized plan to target your specific needs. With the philosophy that the therapeutic process continues outside of the office, I often provide 'homework' to all clients involved including selected readings and self care assignments.

Family Mediation

Mediation is a cooperative decision-making process in which a mediator helps family members resolve their differences. The structured process of mediation provides a safe and supportive environment in which each participant can have their say. The mediator's role is to encourage each person to talk openly while facilitating communication between family members. In most cases, this process will encourage family members to better understand one another and find the best solutions for the whole family.

Consultation

When our children become teens, it often throws what was previously a harmonious relationship into peril. Parents want to be wise, loving, and patient with their children, but do not always feel satisfied with the job they are doing, especially when their children transition into adolescence. Through personal experience and study I have developed effective approaches that empower parents and children alike.

If you would like to schedule a consultation to see if therapy may be a good option for you and your child, please contact me.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). According to research utilizing the American Psychiatric Association and and the Department of Veterans Affairs and Defense practice guidelines, EMDR is consistently in the highest category of effectiveness in treatment of trauma. Please refer to the 'Resources' page for additional information or contact my office.

ASW/LCSW Intern Supervision

My goal for all interns who are coming into my office is to be able to create a relaxing and safe environment that encourages critical thought and professional growth. You can be ensured that we will work specifically on cases that you bring to the session and hit all significant clinical issues of your client.

Anticipating the Board examinations incites stress in even the best of us. There are many barriers such as anxiety and test taking techniques which are almost always present. With this in mind, preparing for the BBS exams should include not only comprehensive review of your knowledge but also techniques to use when facing the examination.
